Inventory that knows its heats, lots, and reorder points
RM, WIP, FG, and consumables — traced by heat and lot, counted by barcode, and reordered before the saw goes hungry.

TYPED ITEMS, REAL BEHAVIOR
Raw material, WIP, finished goods, consumables, and engineering items behave differently — different costing, different allocation, different reorder logic. The item master types them so 4140 bar and carbide inserts each get the right treatment.
HEAT AND LOT RIDE ALONG
Receive bar stock and its heat number and mill cert attach at the dock. Issue it to a work order and the trace follows the part through every operation to the shipped serial. No side spreadsheet.
SCAN, DON'T TYPE
Bins and travelers carry Code 39 barcodes; any USB or Bluetooth scanner works. Cycle counts, issues, and moves are scans, which is why count accuracy runs 99%+ instead of 'pretty close.'
REORDER BEFORE THE SCHEDULE NOTICES
Available-to-promise nets on-hand against allocations. When 3.5-inch bar drops below minimum, a purchase request drafts itself with the preferred vendor attached — and the forecast can raise minimums before demand spikes.
